Jennell Dickens, 22, delivered quintuplets by Caesarean section on September 21, 2005 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore where she had been hospitalized since July 12 so that she and the babies could be closely monitored.
Jennell was able to carry the four girls and one boy into her 31st week of pregnancy, longer than average for quintuplets. At birth, the babies ranged in weight from 1 pound, 12 ounces to 2 pounds, 13 ounces.
The five babies were born within a two-and-a half-minute time span shortly after 9 a.m. on September 21. They arrived in the following order, JaMir Amare, boy, 2 pounds 6 ounces, Si’ani Ritay, girl, 2 pounds 10 ounces, NaRae Dimetria, girl, 1 pound 12 ounces, Jade Na'Liyah, girl, 2 pounds 13 ounces, Rayne Anye, girl, 2 pounds 5 ounces.
