Marisol and Carlos Barreiro, of Hamlin, New York became proud parents to quintuplets just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005. Their 4-year-old, Soleemar, is now a big sister to three girls and two boys. Their names are Darón, boy, 1 lb 12 ½ oz, Zoraelis, girl, 1 lb,  14 oz, Lysmarie, girl, 1 lb 13 ½ oz, Emealis, girl, 1 lb 11 ½ oz and Jomar, boy, 1 lb 14 oz.

The quintuplets were delivered by caesarian section at Strong Beginnings Birth Center. The pregnancy was less than 27 weeks long.

The children were cared for in Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Emealis Barreiro, was the last of the Hamlin quintuplets to go home, April 14, 2006 at 5 pounds 3.5 ounces after almost 129 days in Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Barreiro quintuplets were the first quintuplets born in Rochester since 1993.
