April 13, 2005 will be a day doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Texas won't soon forget.
It was the day that Liz Dixon gave birth to quadruplets.
Born 13 weeks early, by caesarian section, Mom, Liz and Dad, Donny, welcomed their 4 new bundles of joy into the world at 2:13, 2:14, 2:15, and 2:16 pm. There is one boy, Hudson, and three girls, Madison, Candice and Samantha. Their combined weight was only 6 1/2 pounds, less than one full term baby.
What makes these quadruplets an incredible birth is that they were conceived without the use of fertility drugs and the mother was actually on birth control. The odds of having quadruplets without the aid of fertility drugs is 1 in 729,000.
Donnny and Liz were married on December 14, 2002 and there first child Logan was born on April 14, 2004.
Because of serious childhood health problems that Liz suffered she was advised by her doctors early on that if she wanted children she should do so before she was 30.
Problems developed during Lizs' pregnancy and Logan was born with only one functioning kidney.
Liz lost her job early in the pregnancy and with mounting medical bills, Donny took on a second job.
By the time Logan was one month old, the Dixons were forced to move in with Lizs' parents in order to make ends meet.
Then, just six months after Logans birth Liz finds out she's pregnant again, this time tests reveal five tiny heartbeats, thats right, quintuplets. Unfortunately, early in the first trimester the smallest of the five miscarried.
